Ingredients

  • 8 mini bratwurst sausages (uncooked)
  • 12 slices rye bread or pretzel rolls
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup sauerkraut
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 8 slices Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or griddle, cook the mini bratwurst over medium heat for about 6 minutes per side or until fully cooked. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté until soft and caramelized, approximately 15 minutes. Season with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. In a separate pan or grill, toast the rye bread or pretzel rolls until golden brown.
  4. To assemble sliders, place a bratwurst on the bottom half of each roll, followed by a spoonful of sauerkraut, caramelized onions, and a dollop of BBQ sauce. If desired, add a slice of Swiss cheese on top of the sausage before adding the BBQ sauce.
  5. Place the top half of the rolls over the sliders and serve immediately.
