Difficulty: Easy
Cuisine: American, Barbecue

Allergens

Soy, Wheat (in the buns)

Ingredients

  • 4 large boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce (preferably Frank's RedHot)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 6 slider buns, split and toasted
  • Optional: lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles

Instructions

  1. Combine barbecue sauce, hot sauce, honey, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix well to combine.
  2. Place chicken thighs in a large zip top bag or shallow dish, and pour the firecracker sauce over them. Massage the sauce into the chicken to ensure even coverage. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, up to overnight.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium heat (around 350°F). Remove chicken from marinade and discard any excess. Grill chicken thighs for approximately 6 8 minutes per side or until cooked through and reaching an internal temperature of 165°F.
  4. Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before slicing and dividing it among the slider buns. Top with your choice of lettuce, tomato, red onion, or pickles, if desired.

Chef’s Insight

The secret to these firecracker sliders is allowing the chicken to marinate for at least an hour, ensuring maximum flavor infusion.
