Ingredients
1. 4 large burger buns, split 2. 8 oz cheddar cheese slices 3. 8 slices bacon, cooked until crisp 4. 1 lb ground beef (80/20) 5. 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 6. 1 tbsp yellow mustard 7. Salt and pepper to taste 8. 1 large red onion, thinly sliced 9. 1/2 cup BBQ sauce 10. 4 oz Monterey Jack cheese, shredded 11. 1/2 cup pickle slices 12. 4 tbsp mayonnaise 13. 8 leaves lettuce
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, and yellow mustard. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Shape the mixture into 4 large patties.
Preheat your outdoor grill or stovetop griddle to medium high heat. Grill the patties until cooked to your desired doneness, about 5 minutes per side for medium. Remove from heat and set aside.
Cook bacon until crisp and set aside.
In a skillet, cook onions over medium heat until caramelized, about 7 10 minutes. Set aside.
To assemble the burgers: Spread mayonnaise evenly on the top and bottom of each bun half. Place one beef patty on the bottom half of the bun, followed by a layer of cheddar cheese slices. Top with 2 slices of bacon, a generous layer of caramelized onions, 1/4 cup BBQ sauce, and a layer of Monterey Jack cheese. Repeat for the second beef patty.
Place the third and final beef patty on top, followed by another layer of bacon, pickle slices, lettuce, and the top half of the bun.
Press down gently on the top bun to secure the burger in place and cut each burger into two halves using a serrated knife.
Serve immediately with a side of coleslaw or french fries.
Chefβs Insight
To elevate the flavors even further, marinate the ground beef mixture for an hour before grilling.
Notes
For added crunch and flavor, deep-fry pickle slices before assembling the burgers.
