Ingredients
- 1. 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts 2. 1 cup barbecue sauce 3. 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 4. 1/4 cup brown sugar 5. 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 6. 1 tsp smoked paprika 7. 1 tsp ground mustard 8. 1 tsp garlic powder 9. 1/2 tsp onion powder 10. 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 11. 1 tsp salt 12. 1 tsp black pepper 13. 4 slices of your favorite bread or buns 14. 4 leaves of lettuce (optional) 15. 4 slices of red onion (optional) 16. 4 slices of pickles (optional)
Instructions
- Combine barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, ground mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl. Mix well.
- Place the chicken breasts in the marinade and let them sit for at least 30 minutes to overnight for best results.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium high heat.
- Grill the marinated chicken breasts for approximately 5 7 minutes per side, until cooked through and slightly charred. Remove from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before shredding with two forks.
- Return the shredded chicken to the marinade, stirring to coat evenly.
- Toast the buns on the grill or in the oven until slightly crispy.
- Assemble the sandwiches with the pulled chicken, lettuce, red onion slices, and pickles as desired.
