Ingredients

  • 3 lbs beef brisket, cut into 2
  • inch cubes 1 cup smoky BBQ sauce 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup ketchup 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder Salt and pepper, to taste Vegetable oil, for frying 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced 1 cup all
  • purpose flour 1 cup panko breadcrumbs 2 eggs, beaten 6 slider buns, split and lightly toasted

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the beef brisket, BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure that the meat is evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for 2 4 hours, or overnight for optimal flavor.
  2. Preheat your grill to medium high heat (about 350°F). Remove the brisket from the marinade, allowing any excess liquid to drip off. Grill the brisket pieces for 8 10 minutes per side or until fully cooked and tender.
  3. While the brisket is grilling, prepare your crispy onion rings. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F. In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs. Dip each sliced onion ring into the flour, then the egg, and finally the breadcrumbs, shaking off any excess before frying.
  4. Carefully drop the coated onion rings into the hot oil and cook for 2 3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain.
  5. To assemble the sliders, place a piece of grilled brisket atop each lightly toasted bun, then top with a generous portion of crispy onion rings. Serve immediately.

Chef’s Insight

Don't be afraid to experiment with different BBQ sauces or seasonings to create your own unique flavor profile.

Notes

Be sure to let the brisket rest before slicing or cutting into cubes for grilling. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful dish.

Cultural or Historical Background
