1. 2 large chicken breasts, boneless and skinless 2. 1 cup BBQ sauce 3. 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 4. 2 tbsp brown sugar 5. 1 tsp paprika 6. 1 tsp chili powder 7. 1/2 tsp ground black pepper 8. 1/2 tsp garlic powder 9. 1/2 tsp onion powder 10. 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional) 11. 4 waffles, store
bought or homemade 12. Butter, for waffle topping 13. Maple syrup, for drizzling
Instructions
In a bowl, mix together BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, paprika, chili powder, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Set aside.
Marinate the chicken breasts in half of the BBQ sauce mixture for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium high heat. Grill the marinated chicken breasts for about 6 7 minutes per side, basting with the remaining BBQ sauce mixture until cooked through and slightly charred. Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Cook the waffles according to package instructions or using your favorite recipe. Serve warm, topped with a generous pat of butter and drizzled with maple syrup.
Arrange the BBQ chicken slices on top of the waffles and serve immediately.
