purpose flour 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 cup hot sauce (adjust to taste) 1/4 cup butter, melted 1/4 cup honey 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp brown sugar 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp smoked paprika 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
Instructions
Preheat your grill or oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and black pepper. Toss the chicken wings in the mixture until evenly coated.
Place the wings on a baking sheet or grilling tray and bake for 30 minutes, or grill them over indirect heat for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. They should be cooked through but not yet crispy.
In a saucepan, combine the hot sauce, melted butter, honey, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Heat over medium heat, stirring until well combined.
Once the wings are cooked through, carefully transfer them to a large bowl and pour the sauce over the top. Toss until evenly coated.
Return the wings to the grill or oven for an additional 10 12 minutes, basting with extra sauce as needed, until crispy and golden brown.
Chef’s Insight
For an extra smoky flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika to the chicken wing coating before baking/grilling and basting with the sauce.
Notes
Adjust the hot sauce to your preferred level of spiciness. The cooking time may vary depending on the size of the wings and your grill/oven settings.
