  • 12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup homemade or store
  • bought taco seasoning mix
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground chipotle pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro
  • 8 wooden or metal skewers
  • Fresh lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine taco seasoning mix, smoked paprika, ground cumin, ground chipotle pepper, and black pepper. Mix well to blend the spices.
  2. Pat dry the shrimp and toss them in the spice mixture until evenly coated. Let them marinate for 30 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 2 hours.
  3. Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium high heat. Thread 3 shrimp onto each skewer, leaving a small gap between them.
  4. Grill the skewers for 2 3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp are cooked through and have a beautiful char on all sides. Remove from heat and let rest for 1 minute.
  5. Sprinkle freshly chopped cilantro over the sizzling shrimp skewers. Serve immediately with lime wedges for squeezing.
