Ingredients

  • 400g ground beef
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 6 large tortilla chips, crushed
  • 2 slices of cheese (Monterey Jack or cheddar)
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt, to taste
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chipotle chili powder
  • 2 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce leaves, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into two patties.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the crushed tortilla chips until golden brown and crispy. Remove from pan and let drain on paper towels.
  3. In another bowl, mash the avocado with lime juice and salt to taste. Set aside.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, cumin, and chipotle chili powder.
  5. Grill or pan fry the beef patties until cooked to your desired doneness. Top each patty with a slice of cheese and let melt.
  6. Toast the buns on the grill or in the oven for a few minutes.
  7. Assemble the burger by spreading the chili mayo on the bottom bun, followed by lettuce leaves, the beef patty, avocado spread, crispy tortilla chips, and finally the second beef patty. Top with the second half of the bun.
