Instructions

  1. Prepare the pastry dough by combining flour, sugar, nutmeg, and salt in a large bowl. Gradually add milk and eggs to form a smooth dough. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. Slice bananas and sauté them with 5 tbsp of butter and 1/4 cup of sugar until caramelized. Set aside.
  3. Roll out the dough, cut into circles using a cookie cutter, and place a dollop of dulce de leche in the center of each circle. Top with a slice of banana and fold over to seal.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry bombolini until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  5. To serve, drizzle with remaining butter and sugar mixture.
