  1. a. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries with sugar. Cook until the fruit breaks down and the mixture becomes syrupy, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely. b. Strain the fruit mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard solids. Let the syrup cool for 10 minutes. c. In a large pitcher, combine cooled berry syrup with lemon juice and sparkling water. Stir gently to combine. d. To serve, fill four glasses with ice cubes, pour the spritz over them, and garnish each glass with a lemon wheel and a few fresh basil leaves.
