Ingredients

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 cups white sugar, divided
  • 1 cup cachaça
  • 4 ripe passionfruits
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar and lime juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
  2. Once the syrup is cooled, strain out any remaining lime pulp and divide the syrup into 6 glasses, approximately 1/4 cup per glass. Place these in the freezer while you prepare the rest of the cocktails.
  3. Peel and chop 4 ripe passionfruits to yield 1 cup of fruit. In a blender or food processor, blend passionfruit pulp with the remaining 1 cup sugar until smooth.
  4. Add cachaça to the blended passionfruit sugar mixture and stir gently to combine.
  5. Fill each glass from step 2 halfway with ice cubes. Slowly pour the passionfruit cachaça mixture into each glass, filling them about three quarters full. Top off each glass with the chilled lime syrup.
  6. To finish, garnish each cocktail with a fresh mint leaf and serve immediately. Enjoy your otherworldly journey to Brazil's celestial realms!
