Ingredients

  • 1 cup all
  • purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Confectioner's sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and granulated sugar.
  2. Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, taking care not to overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  3. In a deep frying pan or deep fryer, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Using a small ice cream scoop or a spoon, drop portions of the dough into the hot oil. Fry 3 4 bites at a time, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through, about 2 3 minutes. Remove from the oil with a slotted spoon and let drain on paper towels.
  5. Once all the churro bites are fried, dust them generously with confectioner's sugar.
