Ingredients
2 cups apple cider
1 cup red wine (such as Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
1/2 cup brandy
1/4 cup sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
3 whole cloves
1 star anise
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1 apple, sliced into wedges
1 pear, sliced into wedges
1 orange, sliced into rounds
Lemon
lime soda, chilled (for serving)
Cinnamon sticks and apple slices, for garnish
Instructions
In a large saucepan, combine the apple cider, red wine, brandy, sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for about 15 minutes. Strain the mixture into a large pitcher, discarding the solid spices.
Add the sliced apple, pear, and orange wedges to the pitcher, stirring gently to combine. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to overnight to allow the flavors to develop further.
To serve, fill a glass with ice and top with chilled lemon lime soda, leaving some room for the spiced apple mixture. Pour the mixture into the glass, filling about two thirds full. Stir gently to combine.
Garnish with cinnamon sticks and apple slices, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy your Spiced Apple Cider Sangria!
