About This Recipe

A Greek-inspired dessert of honey-roasted walnuts folded into whipped Greek yogurt and cream, lightly spiced with cinnamon and vanilla. Simple to prepare and perfect for sharing.

Honey has been a treasured ingredient in Greek cuisine since ancient times. Walnuts and honey are often combined in traditional Greek dishes as a symbol of health and prosperity.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw walnuts
  • 3 tbsp honey, preferably Greek
  • 1 cup whole milk Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • fresh fruit for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the walnuts and honey. Stir until the nuts are evenly coated.

  2. 2

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  3. 3

Spread the honey-coated walnuts onto the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden and fragrant. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.

  4. 4

In another mixing bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, heavy cream, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

  5. 5

To assemble the dessert, gently fold half of the cooled honey walnuts into the yogurt mixture. Spoon the mixture into two individual serving glasses or dishes, then top with the remaining honey walnuts.

  6. 6

Serve chilled, garnished with fresh fruit if desired.

Chef's Notes

Serve well chilled for the best texture. For a lighter version, substitute half the heavy cream with additional Greek yogurt.

Plating Tips

Serve in clear glass dishes to show off the layers. Drizzle a thin ribbon of honey over the top and dust lightly with cinnamon.
