About This Recipe

A creamy Italian-inspired cocktail made with Amaretto liqueur, heavy cream, and crushed amaretti cookies, served chilled with white chocolate garnish.

Amaretti biscuits have been made in Sardinia since the 14th century. Originally crafted from almonds, sugar, and egg whites, they became a staple of Italian confectionery. Amaretto liqueur, with its signature almond flavor, emerged later from Saronno in Lombardy. This cocktail marries both traditions into a rich, dessert-style drink.

Ingredients

  • 4 fl oz Amaretto liqueur
  • 1 cup heavy cream, well-chilled
  • 2 cup ice cubes
  • 6 amaretti cookies, crushed
  • 1 oz white chocolate, shaved, for garnish
  • 2 amaretti cookies, crushed, for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1

In a cocktail shaker, combine Amaretto liqueur and heavy cream.

  2. 2

Add ice cubes and shake vigorously until well combined and chilled.

  3. 3

    Strain into four cocktail glasses.

  4. 4

Garnish with shaved white chocolate and crushed amaretti cookies.

Chef's Notes

Ensure the heavy cream is well-chilled before use. For a lighter version, substitute half the cream with whole milk.

Plating Tips

Serve in coupe glasses for an elegant presentation. Dust the rim with finely crushed amaretti crumbs and drape thin white chocolate curls across the top.
