  • purpose flour 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed 1/4 cup ice water 4 large apples, peeled and thinly sliced 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup raisins 1/4 cup chopped walnuts 1/2 cup custard powder mixed with 1 1/2 cups cold milk

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour and butter. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, mixing until dough just comes together. Form into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, toss apples with cinnamon, sugar, raisins, and walnuts.
  3. Remove dough from the fridge and roll out into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
  4. Spread custard mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1 inch border around the edges.
  5. Arrange apple mixture on top of custard layer.
  6. Roll up the dough tightly, starting from one of the longer sides, and pinch to seal the edge.
  7. Transfer roll to a parchment lined baking sheet, seam side down, and bake at 375°F for 40 45 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before slicing.
