Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined 8 slices thick
  • cut bacon, cut in half 1 cup bourbon 1/2 cup ketchup 1/4 cup dark brown sugar 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 1/4 cup molasses 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon smoked paprika 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon black pepper 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the BBQ sauce by whisking together bourbon, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let it cook down for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium high heat. Wrap each shrimp with half a slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Brush the skewers with some prepared BBQ sauce on all sides.
  3. Place skewers on preheated grill, cook for 2 3 minutes per side until the bacon is slightly crispy and shrimp is cooked through. Baste with more BBQ sauce during cooking, turning frequently to avoid overcooking the shrimp.
  4. Once fully cooked, remove from grill and let it rest for a minute before serving.
