Ingredients

• 4 beef patties, freshly ground
• 4 hamburger buns, toasted
• 4 slices smoked gouda cheese
• 16 slices of crispy onion rings (store bought or homemade)
• 2 cups shredded lettuce
• 1 cup tangy BBQ sauce (homemade or store bought)
• 1 large tomato, sliced
• 1 medium red onion, sliced
• Salt and pepper to taste Tangy BBQ Sauce:
• 1 cup ketchup
• 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp onion powder
• Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the grill for medium high heat. In a medium bowl, whisk together all BBQ sauce ingredients until fully combined. Set aside.
2. Season beef patties with salt and pepper, then shape into 4 equal portions. Place each patty on the preheated grill and cook for 3 5 minutes per side or until desired doneness is reached. Add a slice of smoked gouda cheese to each patty during the last minute of cooking.
3. While the burgers are grilling, prepare the onion rings by following package instructions or homemade recipe. Once cooked, set aside.
4. Assemble the burgers: Begin with the toasted hamburger buns, followed by a patty with melted cheese, lettuce, tomato slices, BBQ sauce, and a generous helping of crispy onion rings. Top with another spoonful of tangy BBQ sauce and finish off with the second half of the toasted bun.
5. Serve immediately with a side salad tossed in your favorite dressing.
