Allergens

Dairy (in pimento cheese spread), Gluten (in slider buns)

Ingredients

  • 12 oz ground beef chuck 6 slider buns 1/4 cup pimento cheese spread 2 tbsp canola oil 2 slices of American cheese, cut into quarters 1 small onion, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef with the finely chopped onions, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Divide the mixture into six equal portions, shaping each into a ball. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium high heat, about 400°F. Brush canola oil onto both sides of each beef patty before placing them on the heated grates. Sear for 2 3 minutes until a crust forms and then smash with a spatula to flatten. Cook for another 2 3 minutes until desired doneness is reached.
  3. During the final minute of cooking, top each smashed patty with a quarter slice of American cheese to let it melt gently over the sizzling meat. Remove burgers from the grill and place them on a clean plate or tray.
  4. While the burgers rest, toast the slider buns on the grill until slightly charred.
  5. Spread pimento cheese spread generously onto each toasted bottom bun. Place a juicy cheesy smashburger atop and finish with a sprinkle of parsley on top. Add the bun's upper half for the final touch.

Chef’s Insight

Allow the beef mixture to rest in the fridge before shaping to help keep the patties together during cooking.

Notes

The pimento cheese spread can be made from scratch or store-bought to save time. Experiment with adding bacon or jalapeños for added spice and flavor.
