Gluten (in non-vegan version), Nuts, Soy (in non-vegan version)
Ingredients
4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons all
purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup cold vegan butter, cut into small cubes
1 pre
made vegan pie crust
3/4 cup almond flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons cold vegan butter, cut into small cubes
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the apple slices, granulated sugar, all purpose flour, cinnamon, lemon zest, and salt. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
Roll out the vegan pie crust and gently press it into a 9 inch round pie dish. Trim any excess dough.
Arrange the apple mixture in the prepared pie crust, ensuring an even layer of apples.
In another mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and cold vegan butter cubes. Use a fork or pastry cutter to create a crumbly texture.
Sprinkle the almond crumble evenly over the apple layer in the pie dish.
Bake for 30 35 minutes, until the apples are tender and the crumble is golden brown. If needed, cover the edges of the pie crust with aluminum foil to prevent overbrowning.
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
Chef’s Insight
