Ingredients

  • 1 sheet gluten
  • free puff pastry 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced 1/2 cup caramel sauce 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 1/4 cup almond flour 1 large egg, beaten 1 tbsp granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the gluten free puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Transfer it to a parchment lined baking sheet and score a 1 inch border around the edges, without cutting all the way through. Spread a thin layer of caramel sauce inside the border. Arrange the apple slices in a circular pattern over the caramel. Sprinkle lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg on top. Mix almond flour with the remaining caramel sauce and spread it evenly over the apples. Brush the edge of the pastry with beaten egg and sprinkle sugar on top. Bake for 35 40 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Chef’s Insight

Use a pastry brush to apply the egg wash evenly around the edge of the pastry Ensure the apples are thinly sliced to create a balanced texture in each bite

Notes

For a dairy-free option, use a dairy-free caramel sauce and substitute the almond flour with gluten-free all-purpose flour
