Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless pork shoulder
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 slider buns
  • 2 cups coleslaw
  • 4 slices of red onion

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, brown sugar, sriracha, smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to create the Firecracker BBQ Sauce.
  2. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper. In a large pot or slow cooker, pour half of the Firecracker BBQ sauce over the pork and cook on low for 8 hours or until tender and easily shredded.
  3. Remove the pork from the liquid and shred using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the pot and stir in the remaining Firecracker BBQ sauce. Cook for an additional 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium high heat. Toast the slider buns for 1 2 minutes per side, until lightly golden.
  5. Assemble the sliders by layering pulled pork, coleslaw, and red onion slices. Serve immediately.

Chef’s Insight

To add even more flavor, try marinating the pork shoulder in some of the Firecracker BBQ Sauce before cooking.

Notes

The coleslaw can be store-bought or homemade. Use your favorite recipe or store brand.
