Allergens

Dairy (cream cheese, shredded cheese) - Wheat (wonton wrappers)

Ingredients

  • 8 large wonton wrappers
  • 1 pound thinly sliced steak, or chicken breast
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fajita seasoning mix
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine sliced steak (or chicken), onion, bell pepper, garlic, and fajita seasoning mix. Toss well to coat the meat and vegetables evenly.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the seasoned meat mixture and cook until the meat is browned and cooked through, and the vegetables are tender, about 5 7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a small bowl, combine softened cream cheese and shredded cheese. Mix well to combine.
  4. To assemble, lay out wonton wrappers on a clean work surface. Spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture onto each wrapper.
  5. Top the cream cheese with a generous scoop of the cooked fajita meat mixture.
  6. Fold the wonton wrappers in half diagonally, enclosing the filling and sealing the edges by lightly pressing them together.
  7. In a large non stick skillet or griddle, cook the wonton wrapped appetizers over medium heat for 2 3 minutes per side, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from heat, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve immediately. Enjoy!
