Ingredients

  • 3 lbs chicken wings, split at the joint 1 cup smoky BBQ sauce 1/2 cup honey 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 2 tbsp chili powder 2 tsp paprika 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp ground black pepper 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Combine smoky BBQ sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground black pepper, and salt in a bowl. Mix well to create the firecracker dry rub.
  2. Pat dry the chicken wings with paper towels and place them on a large tray.
  3. Apply the dry rub generously to each wing, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and let marinate for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat your BBQ grill to medium high heat (350°F/180°C). Grill wings over direct heat until cooked through, approximately 20 25 minutes, turning occasionally.
  5. Once the chicken is fully cooked, brush liberally with the remaining sauce and continue to cook for another 5 minutes, until the sauce caramelizes.

Chef’s Insight

For an added touch of smokiness, try soaking wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before threading the chicken wings onto them.

Notes

These wings are best enjoyed warm and fresh off the grill.
