Ingredients

  • 6 beef patties (80% lean)
  • 6 slices Monterey Jack cheese
  • 6 burger buns
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup salsa con queso
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 12 slices pickled jalapeños
  • 1 large tomato, sliced into 6 rounds
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill or cast iron pan to medium high heat.
  2. Season both sides of the beef patties with salt and pepper.
  3. Grill the patties for 4 5 minutes per side or until desired doneness is reached. Add cheese slices during the last minute of cooking, allowing it to melt.
  4. Toast the burger buns on the grill until golden brown.
  5. Assemble burgers by spreading BBQ sauce and salsa con queso on the bottom half of each bun. Layer lettuce, tomato slices, pickled jalapeños, and red onion rings on top. Place seasoned patties with melted cheese on top of the veggies.
  6. Add the top half of the burger buns and serve immediately.
