Ghanaian Kelewele – Spicy Fried Plantains with Cinnamon & Nutmeg

Peel the plantains and cut them into bite sized pieces.
In a large bowl, mix together water, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Add the plantain pieces to the mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Carefully add the plantains, and cook for 5 7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
Remove the plantains from the frying pan, drain excess oil, and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
