  • free filo pastry 1 cup chopped walnuts 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground cloves 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted For the Honey Walnut Sauce: 1 cup honey 1 cup water 1 cup chopped walnuts 1 cinnamon stick 1/4 tsp ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine walnuts, sugar, cinnamon, and cloves. Set aside.
  3. Lay one sheet of filo pastry on the prepared baking sheet. Brush lightly with melted butter. Repeat with 7 more sheets, placing each new layer perpendicular to the previous one.
  4. Sprinkle walnut mixture evenly over the top layer of filo. e) Roll up the layers tightly into a log shape. Wrap in parchment paper and twist ends like a candy wrapper. Place on baking sheet with seam side down. f) Bake for 25 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly. g) For the sauce, combine honey, water, walnuts, cinnamon stick, and cloves in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain and discard the cinnamon stick. h) Slice each roll into 4 pieces and drizzle with honey walnut sauce.
