  • 1. 2 cups of walnuts, finely chopped 2. 1 cup of almonds, finely chopped 3. 1 package (about 16 oz) of vegan phyllo dough sheets 4. 1 cup of granulated sugar 5. 1 cup of water 6. 1/2 cup of agave nectar 7. 1 tsp of ground cinnamon 8. 1/2 tsp of ground cloves 9. 1/2 cup of vegan butter, melted 10. Fresh berries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a trifle dish with some vegan butter.
  2. In a bowl, combine the chopped walnuts and almonds. Set aside.
  3. Unroll the phyllo dough sheets on a flat surface. Brush each sheet with melted vegan butter, stack them, and cut into squares or rectangles.
  4. Place one layer of phyllo dough at the bottom of the trifle dish, followed by half of the nut mixture. Repeat for the second layer.
  5. In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, agave nectar, cinnamon, and cloves. Cook over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture forms a syrup. Set aside.
  6. Top the second layer of phyllo dough and nuts with another layer of phyllo sheets, brushing each sheet with melted butter as before.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  8. Slowly pour the syrup over the warm trifle, allowing it to soak into the layers. Let it sit for about 1 hour to absorb the flavors.
  9. Before serving, garnish with fresh berries and enjoy this delectable dessert!
