  • fed butter, melted

  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup raw honey
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Zest of one lemon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9 inch square baking pan with a little grass fed butter and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together almonds, walnuts, coconut flour, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves until well combined.
  3. Pour the melted butter over the nut mixture and stir until evenly coated.
  4. Press half of the nut mixture into the prepared pan, creating an even layer. Set aside the remaining nut mixture for later use.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
  6. In a saucepan, combine honey, water, vanilla extract, and lemon zest. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Pour the hot honey syrup over the cooled nut layer in the pan and let it soak for about 30 minutes.
  8. Cut the baklava into small squares or rectangles, depending on your preference.
  9. Gently roll each piece in the remaining nut mixture to coat.
  10. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
