  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 tablespoons sweet onion jam (recipe follows)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until combined. Form into four patties.
  2. Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium high heat. Grill the burgers for 4 5 minutes per side or until cooked to desired doneness. If using cheese, add a slice to each patty during the last minute of cooking and let it melt.
  3. Toast the burger buns on the grill for 30 seconds to 1 minute per side.
  4. Assemble the burgers by spreading sweet onion jam on both halves of the buns, then add a patty, lettuce, and tomato slices. Serve immediately.
