Dairy (in cheese), Gluten (in Hawaiian rolls)
Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian rolls, sliced in half
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 12 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 small head cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
- Spread softened butter on the cut sides of each Hawaiian roll half, and place them buttered side down on the preheated grill. Toast the rolls until golden brown, about 1 2 minutes per side. Remove from the grill and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well to create a spicy coleslaw dressing.
- Add thinly sliced cabbage and red onion to the dressing and toss until well coated. Let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Assemble the sliders by placing a slice of cheddar cheese on the bottom half of each roll, followed by a generous spoonful of spicy coleslaw. Top with the other half of the roll.
- Return the assembled sliders to the grill and cook for an additional 2 3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the rolls are warm and crispy. Serve immediately.
Chef’s Insight
For an extra smoky flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke to the spicy coleslaw dressing.
