Ingredients

  • 1. 2 lbs chicken wings (drumettes and flats) 2. 1 cup BBQ sauce (preferably your favorite regional style) 3. 1/4 cup hot sauce 4. 1/4 cup brown sugar 5. 2 tbsp honey 6. 2 cloves garlic, minced 7. 1 tsp smoked paprika 8. Salt and pepper to taste 9. Cooking oil (e.g., canola or vegetable)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop griddle to medium high heat, allowing it to reach a temperature of approximately 350°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine BBQ sauce, hot sauce, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Clean and dry the chicken wings thoroughly. If desired, separate the drumettes from the flats for easier grilling.
  4. Brush the wings with a thin layer of the BBQ sauce mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  5. Place the wings on the grill or griddle, cooking them for 12 15 minutes per side until cooked through and slightly charred.
  6. During the last 2 minutes of cooking, generously brush the wings with the remaining BBQ sauce mixture to create a sticky, glossy finish.
  7. Remove from heat and let them rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Chef’s Insight

To add extra smokiness, marinate the wings in your favorite BBQ sauce for at least 2 hours before grilling.
