  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp rosewater

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine ground walnuts, 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. Mix well and set aside.
  3. On a clean surface, carefully layer phyllo dough sheets, brushing each with melted butter and gently folding them into desired shapes. For this recipe, we will create three different shapes: triangles, rolls, and diamonds.
  4. Arrange the shaped phyllo dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle walnut mixture evenly among the three shapes.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool.
  6. In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in rosewater.
  7. Drizzle the syrup over the baklava and let it soak for at least an hour before serving.
