  • 1 large onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all
  • purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 burger buns
  • 4 oz french fries
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat the grill to high heat (around 350°F). Season the beef patties with salt and pepper. Grill the patties until cooked to your desired doneness, about 3 minutes per side. Place cheese on top of patties during the last minute of cooking.
  2. In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F. Prepare a dredging station with flour, buttermilk, and panko breadcrumbs. Season the onion rings with salt and pepper. Dredge in the order of flour, buttermilk, and breadcrumbs. Fry until golden brown, about 2 3 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each burger bun, adding a slice of cheese, BBQ sauce, and onion rings. Serve with french fries.

Chef’s Insight

To achieve that perfect sear, let the burgers rest for a few minutes after cooking before cutting into them.

Notes

To maximize the sensory experience, consider serving with a side of coleslaw or potato salad.
